I'm loney, but not that lonely.
Sep. 19th, 2003 11:08 pmI never thought I'd ever be approached by a prostitute on the street where I live... but I've never lived on Cowley Road before.
I'd gone further down towards town (near the clubs and pubs) and walked past a lady who was in her fifties. She said hello to me - I glanced and kept walking figuring she'd mistaken me for someone else. Whilst buying a few things from a shop I saw her walking past with a man looking much like myself. I figured she must have mistaken him for me.
I walk out of the shop and there she is, she walks alongside me on the street and asks "Do you want any company tonight, love?"
She was a thin, fairly ordinary looking woman. Not in makeup and not dressed in any way out of the ordinary. She could have been the mother of anyone my age - just old enough for grandchildren.
I slowed down and told her I wasn't interested. I asked to take care of herself tonight. I don't know what sort of night she has in store but I'd be terrified to be her. She wasn't with anyone else and seemed to be floating in a sort of desperation.
:/
