"L-O-V-E L o v e l y!"~
May. 19th, 2003 06:55 pmWhat a gem I discovered today.
On a whim, I went and ordered the Grasshoppa! volume 3 dvd from amotokyo.
Now, many of you might be wondering what the hell Grasshoppa! is. Basically it's a serial collection of short movies and animations etc from japan that are collected on these volumes. Luckily for us, the grasshoppa dvds have english subtitles.
So, why did I buy it and why volume 3 of all things? Well, when looking on Hideaki Anno's homepage, it lists something on grasshoppa dvd 3 that he directed and sure enough there is a 14 minute short movie directed by Anno called (I think) RYUSEl KACHO.
It's a comedy about a salary man's daily quest to gain a seat upon the train, amongst other things and it's all very humourous. I haven't laughed as much in ages. The whole thing definitely has Anno's fingerprints on it but I haven't seen him do anything this outwardly witty in a long time. It's very refreshing from his serious introspective works of late.
Anyway, I love it and I'd like to show it to everyone but I dont really know where I'd host it. I could probably squeeze it down to 70mb and look ok (it's not very compressable) but I'd have to do aim transfers.
This is the sort of stuff that would go down great at an anime club (It will be at OAV next week I think :P).
kusoyaro, you'll definitely want to see this because I think there's some great footage you might want to use :D
Anyway, I think I'm going to watch some of the non-Anno shorts now ^^
