Date: 2004-09-30 04:28 am (UTC)The good thing about it is that One Piece is only shown once a week, so you only have to hear it once a week. The bad thing about it is that One Piece is only shown once a week, so it will take FOREVER for the series to catch up to Japan unless it is stripped 5-a-day to (say) ABC Family or syndicated to local stations.
Sigh, I miss the salad days of the '80s and '90s with cartoons after school from 2-6pm on TV...

Date: 2004-07-20 08:50 pm (UTC)I intend to sing "We Are!" in the original Japanese at the upcoming conventions, but most likely in the original Japanese. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the new English lyrics, albeit it will only be of the first verse and first chorus. But considering I know the first half of the Japanese lyrics already, perhaps doing the first part in Japanese, the second part in English, and the last chorus in Japanese might be cool.
Then again, maybe I'll learn that pesky second verse in Japanese. :)

Date: 2004-09-21 07:54 am (UTC)I'd have much rather have them do the English version of "We Are", but the Fox executives apparently don't think kids have the attention span for a 90-second OP.

Date: 2004-11-05 07:43 am (UTC)there are 2 posts thats reffer to the opening theme as "god awful rap", do you hate it becasue its a rap song? or because its a BAD rap song? I mean, from my perspective "I listen to MANY genres just so you know, especially especially metal, and havent listened to rap since 1998) and I, as a very nit-picky person, found the opening song they used to be very good.
None of that over-used rock or pop-ish type themes that they seem to think everyone-in-the-world-can-accept. I'm sure if it we're some generic rock song the lyrics would be more tolerable to you :P
you don't know how mediocre your opinions of the opening are, as were many fans of samurai champloo, who we're of course a bunch of lil white bois/grrlz who sweat the hell out of their Linkin Park, SOAD, Evenescence, and various punk groups whose songs they wear out in their AMVs.
just cuz your white/whitebread doesn't mean rap sucks :P in any shape or form, even though I haven't been listening for 6 years for prolly the same reasons you don't listen to it at all, but I doubt your reasoning isn't relative to most of yours racial background. I feel sorry for white peeps who hate rap and black peeps who hate every other type of music lol cuz neither side has a substancial reason for doing so, other than the fact they we're rasied listening to what they listen to.

Date: 2004-11-12 10:02 am (UTC)This is just one of 2 journals I ran into saying the exact same BS, with the EXACT same type of people with the EXACT same mentality. I came to the realization that AVERAGE anime fans have NO taste, though you are entitled to your opinions as i am, your basiclly criticizing what you have no exposer to, which makes any opinions outside of others of the same mindset, ANYTHING but apt.

Date: 2004-11-13 02:44 pm (UTC)You can have personal disputes with anyone you like... just not on my journal, thank you. The person you are arguing with has their own contact details which you can see by clicking their name. I'm asking you to kindly take this elsewhere as my blog entry has absolutely nothing to do with opinions on rap music. I don't care about your opinions and I'd rather not be accused of posting "bullshit" when your argument is with someone else, not me.
I do, however, find it utterly hillarious that you feel so strongly about this opening theme being good that you are willing to start arguments with total strangers on the internet AND on someone elses personal blog (even when that person didn't even comment on or care about the musical quality of the opening). Next time I want to take a shit, maybe I'll use your backyard.
