bah what's doris day doing with this loser sinatra... I need to start reading synopses for movies with sinatra in because I hate it when he's these mopey depressing characters. Exactly how did he become a superstar with roles like this?!

P.S. OK, so all through this picture there's this idea that sinatra's character has that the Fates will stike him down dead one day with lightning.... so why the hell at the end of this movie is his son named Lightning?!?! Is there a sequel to to this movie called Oedipal at Heart or something... because really that would be worth watching.

Fair songs, stupid 50s Doris Day haircut and completely implausible and frankly irritating end of 2nd act -> end of movie. I guess if you start the day watching An American in Paris it's always going to be downhill from then on.

If you start the day watching An American in Paris, you can only follow it up with Singin' in the Rain. That's a rule.

If I were going to watch a Doris Day movie, I'd go for Pillow Talk or Pajama Game or some other bedroom comedy. Anything where she cries for 80 miles. :)

At the moment I'm renting any old musical I've not seen (hence the random doris day movies) but inevitably I get frustrated by certain things - Sinatra being a loser one of them.

My favorite Doris Day musical: Love Me or Leave Me. Before she was a virgin.
