To all you whispering schoolgirls out there, I did not skip Anime Weekend Atlanta this year because I was

a) embittered with AMVs
b) pissed off about my low vividcon panel attendance (err it was standing room only. It was showing the amvs made by you dumb shmucks that was low attendance :P)
c) in some personal falling out with any individual
d) in some angst-ridden state over not making any amvs.

The full truth of the matter is this.

I WAS BROKE.

I happened to recently lose my job, which was a bummer, and couldn't afford to come. You didn't know this because I don't use journals to bitch about my personal life *gasp*. I didn't enter any videos because I didn't see the point of sending in videos when I wouldn't be there to enjoy them on the big screen.

As it happens I really wish I could have been there this year and I'm sure those who know me well would know that. I hope financially things will be better next year so I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone again. For those who obviously don't know me very well and seemingly created some vengeful drama out of my non-appearance. Get a life... Real Person Fanfic is for deserate loser teenagers with bad acne.

Euch. Even having to justify myself like this feels way to emo. I won't be doing this again any time soon.

Very sorry to hear about your job loss, especially as I'm certain you were damned good at it.

I know you don't post about RL stuff here, but I hope you take a minute to update us about your next fabulous career move.

I hadn't heard any rumors, but I was wondering what happened to you...I'm glad it was only a lack of money, and I hope we see you next year. :)

Same here. I heard that from a couple people who I trust. I also hear some people I don't think that highly of saying that you were lying, so I pulled a DW and fought for you honor :P

Good luck in the job hunt. I'm confident you'll find one. I just hope the UK's market is doing better than the US's :\

I had heard indirectly what had happened and attempted to keep rumors to a minimum at the org when someone started a thread there. I hope things work out for you. It would be nice if you responded to my IMs every once in a while...

I am very sorry to hear about your job. I had no idea what was going on.

I have to admit that I was half-wondering if you had decided to move on from amv's either because (e) you went to vividcon and found that community so much nicer than us clowns, or (f) you had achieved everything you wanted to and wanted to move on to new challenges.

Anyway, it's good to hear from you again. You were very much missed.

No see those were the reasons _I_ didn't go to AWA. :P

That's what I thought, too.

Well, you know what they say about assumption...

And here I was thinking you had joined a cult (not the Tom Cruise one, but the one where aliens fell to earth and spawned human life and then hid for millennium until they could emerge as music videos and take over our minds via pretty images) and given up vidding. Am glad you set this straight.

Sorry to hear about the job situation. Unsurprisingly, I was not aware of any drama.

1. You will find a better job soon.

2. You do not have to justify anything to anyone.

3. Insert *hug* here (and keep your chin up).

I'll have to disagree about your panel. There was no standing room. I think you could have packed more people in if they'd have let us bungie cord a few to the ceiling, though.

Stupid fire codes.

And you are in good company with the employment situation. All of the best people are out of work these days.

Condolences on both the job front and the controlling emo front.

Which:
::imagines amv.org forum members in schoolgirl skirts, gossiping::

o.0

XD

And dude, the only reason vidshow was only lowly attended was 'cause [livejournal.com profile] astolat was hosting a panel on visual composition.

(which, OMG [livejournal.com profile] astolat!!!)

(...::ponders:: and I have the feeling that had I been in amv either earlier or more I would be similarily going OMG KEVIN CALDWELL!!!)

::blinks:: and I have a point in here somewhere that I think you do a good job with the non-emo in whatever case and that the job thing will be to you an irritating and vexing thing that once worked past you'll look around you and see that you're in a shiner place.

::hoping that some of that made sense::

Damn, that sucks

Was losing your job the unspecified "work stuff" you mentioned to me over AIM back in August? I guess we're not close enough for me to take the hint, sorry. :( Hope you find another one soon!

At least you got your computer access back though. I had heard that yours got busted for a while! Unfortunately, we had to replace you as admin at the .org. I hope you don't hold that against us what with the double whammy you seem to be having, but 4 months is much too long to spend short one admin. I'm sure you understand.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention the computer death. I'm still using a laptop to get on the net.

I don't feel bad about being replaced, I'd have made the same decision. I'd like to help out on some site documentation stuff though - perhaps finish off doing the various faqs that were started and update and finish off the guide.

For now though it's all about the job hunting.
