OK, I need help.

I've been desperately trying to think of a song about a girl who is any one or more of the following

sad
lonely
mad
psychotic
in need of someone to care for her

It needs to have some sort of emotional trauma element to it.

It also needs to be dramatic, powerful. It can be gentle but it needs some moments of excalmation. Think Come Undone by Duran Duran but with balls.

Other themes that may inspire song choice are: birthday, locked away (metaphorically), broken childhood. Also, it would help if it's sung from a man's perspective (watching her) but that's a bonus rather than a necessity.

I'm certain there's loads of good songs with this sort of theme, but I'll be darned if I can think of any. Best song idea gets a cookie.

first song that comes to mind is 'Haunted' by Poe. If I think of any more, I'll post.

I had planned on doing a Now and Then Here and There video to this song a long time ago, but have since moved on from that idea.

Hehe okay :)

Cruiserweight - Phantom Writer (I also have an acoustic version)
Delerium - Returning (feat. Kirsty Thirsk)
William Hut - Scarlet
Nana Katase - Shine (this is in Japanese and I can't find translated lyrics, but in the video it depicts a girl as being very isolated and lonely when everyone else around her seems to have friends/lovers, and she's on the outside looking in, so thats what made me think of it)

First song that cam to my mind is "Carrying Cathy" by Ben Folds off Rockin' the Suburbs. Akimbo dislikes the song, but I think it's really good. CD is in the car, and I don't feel like getting it at the moment, nap time, but maybe later if you still haven't heard it all go get it.

You could probably find a bunch of other ben folds songs in that area too. Though, some of his songs can be really discriptive making amv's hard to make.

the Carrying Cathy lyrics look good, but they get a little too specific at the end. I like the picture image though, it works well for one particular part of the source footage.

Thanks for the tip!

This is off topic, but for the longest time I thought Ben's song Losing Lisa was LOSER Lisa. One of my roommates at the time was named Lisa, so I always skipped over the song because I didn't want her to think that I thought she was a loser. Um, yeah.

maybe...

I agree with EK on the Tori Amos...she has some songs you could use.

I ono about "Horses", but "Cornflake Girl"

I'd also look at the lyrics for...
"Girl"
"Silent All These Years"
"Precious Things" (Bogosort's done an AMV to this, though...)
"Yes, Anastasia"
and just because it's fucked up: "Me and a Gun" which doesn't really work well, but hey, good songs.

I love Tori. *fangirl*

Anyways, most won't work....but can I have a cookie anyway? *holds out hands and gives big kawaii eyes* Ohnegai??

Damn, well, if Air had any songs with vocal other than Playground Love from the Virgin Suicides soundtrack, I'd immediately direct you there. You could pull off a nice instrumental, though...

Hey, there's always Melissa Ethridge's "Come to My Window" X-D

"Gripped" by The Choir.

"Love Is A Dead Language" and "Violent Blue" by Chagall Guevara.

About a half dozen VOL songs.

Can you play AACs? Otherwise they'll need re-ripped. Or you could come to the BBQ.

I'd love to come to the bbq, but I'd just infect everyone.

AAC is fine (and encouraged) :)

The first thing that comes to mind is something by Liz Phair. She's good at mad :D Maybe her new "Firewalker" song? I'll keep thinking.

The only thing I can think of at the moment (and it's probably not what you're looking for) is "She" by Green Day.
