It almost doesn't look real -- I mean, even when you hard-drop a piece in Tetris, it still shows up at the top of the screen. Does that not happen in "DEATH-MODE" or something?
They're using the newest "official" tetris game, which is by Arika Co. Ltd., Tetris Grandmaster 2. Since the invention of Tetris there have been a few modifications. For instance, there are two things Arika came up with called IRS and TLS (Initial Rotation System and Temporary Landing System). Both of these things make grandmaster level tetris possible. IRS allows you to pre-rotate a piece by holding the rotator buttons as it comes into play. TLS adds a short window where you can move a piece after it's touched the ground, that's how the guy does some of his maneouvers. I have a file of a Tetris Grandmaster beating the game and achieving GM rank, it's just nuts. You're ranked by like level 1,2,3,4 etc and then S9, S8, S7 etc, until you hit SS and then you hit GM. The pieces are dropping that fast because they are travelling down the screen that fast, they start on a very high difficulty level.
back when I was in the hospitol for my heart... I got a game boy (one of the original ones... not the smaller ones... black and white and all... i was 16 at the time).... and the game tetris... i liked playing it... but during one of the tests they dialated my eyes.... so while i was waiting for the medicine to kick in I played tetris.... and my sight got worse and worse (as they dialated)... but strangely... my game got better and better... it ended up being the best game I ever played... kind of wierd... i could not focus on the screen at all... but saw all of it at once....
