Jan. 3rd, 2004 07:36 pmTransformers TV
Transformers the Movie
Transformers: Armada
Transformers Car Robots
Transformers: Robots in Disguise
These are all forms of Transformers listed on the org. What I need to know is
a) What are the official western titles?
b) Are any of the above listings duplicates?
c) Are any of them not produced in Japan and would not be classed as anime?
Thanks in advance :)

Date: 2004-01-03 12:19 pm (UTC)Transformers "TV" is basically just Transformers, unless you mean the version with the spliced-in CGI (that's Transformers Generation Two) -- and no one wants that stuff.
"Transformers: The Movie" is how it's usually rendered.
To the best of my knowledge, only the CGI Beast Wars and Beast Machines were animated outside of Japan, although everything up until the Headmasters fork had heavy American involvement. (I don't track that continuity, but Beast Wars also had an anime.) Whether or not they're anime is a matter for stupid-ass pedantry, IMO.

Date: 2004-01-03 12:54 pm (UTC)The movie was also commission by Hasbro to help bolster interest in Transformers new line of futuristic transforer toys "Transformers 2006".
By 1987, interest in the toy line had begun to wane in the U.S. and Hasbro discontinued and the TV seres. however, the Japanese continued making transformer episodes with a new season taking place theoretically after season 4 called Transforers: HeadMasters, several other seasons with different titles followed such as Transformers Supergod Master Force, Transformers: Victory, Transformers: Zone, etc.
From what I understand of it, Transformers: Armada and Transformers: Car Robots are the same thing, though I'm certain someone will know.
With the exception of the CG 'Beast Wars' series, all Transformer titles made following Season 4 of T: RiD should be classed as 'anime' as they were fully written and produced by the Japanese.
Also, Transformers: TV is a duplicate listing of T:RiD.

Transformers: Car Robots and Transformers: RiD are the same series. RiD is the westernized title.
Transformers: Armada is the most recent series.
