I'd laugh harder- but Ah! Megami-sama! (especially the Mini-Goddess Adventures) is one of soopahgrover's favorites. Of course, one of the others is "That one with all the puking" (DNA^2) and her Pulp Fiction is one of her all-time favorite movies, so I don't think she's the best indicator for what to show to girls to get them into anime. :P

In my case, the first animé I showed my girlfriend was Fushigi Yuugi. :)

I definitely like the show, enough that that's partially how I choose this name, but I'm not aware of any girls who got into anime watching it.

The reason I find this quote so amusing is because of the inherent appaling male fantasy the ahow promotes (I really hate pretty much all maid and harem shows, as I call them).

I think there's something offputting about a geeky fanboy showing AMG to a girl... it's like saying "Hey, would you be my Belldandy and be divinely beautiful, infinitely boring and completely brain-numbingly servile ?"

Of course I'm being a little harsh on the show but there are so many fanboys out there who like characters such as Belldandy, Kasumi from Ranma and so on simply because of their shallow servile nature... and it creeps me out.
