Had you not seen it before?

I saw it with my college anime club back in '97. The first few episodes, I was like, "Wtf is this?"

Then it got amazingly fucking intense...and then petered out again. It picked up a little again by the end. I liked the series in general, but it could have been a lot shorter.

I agree, it should be shorter but I can tolerate the slow parts.

I wish the dvds had the omake on them... I dont know where my nadia omake fansub dissapeared to.

That's exactly how I felt about it...and funny that you saw it in your anime college club, because it was the same for me. Sadly mine was a year later...it would've been eerie though :-P.

IIRC the show picked up in the teens, got really good up until like 30-something and then they were on this island for a long time and it sucked. Then it got good again...oh and the scene with the giant King status was funny...with balls and everything...(why do I remember this?)

I bought the first 3 DVDs a few months back when hitmenow.com had a special and had them for $9.99 (USD) each! I have yet to watch them though! I saw the first few eps years ago and liked it. Plus I like ethnic babes like Nadia. some day I'm going to do a video about the "ethnic" babes of anime. I have an idea for that if I can get the track I want for DDR 5th mix next year ...

You might want to see if you can find an online copy of Marc Hairston's "Captain Nemo" AMV... it's about ten years old, and still really good.

You may want to try out "Secret of Cerulean Sand (Patapata Hikosen no Boken). It's got a similar look and feel (George and Jean could have been twins), but none of Nadia (the character)'s annoying preachiness or other abusive traits.
